Comic Releases 2.0 is Live!

This is probably the biggest update in our history. I have spent the last few months designing a huge redesign of the main parts of our site, added some new pages, and generally just added all kinds of cool enhancements. We’ve moved from our old dataTables framework to Tabulator and with that a totally new table interface.

  • DARK MODE! There is now a switcher at the top of the site for dark mode and it will apply to all the tables and such properly! Look for that sun/moon icon next to the social media icons at the very top (or just the very top bar on mobile). I still default the site to light mode but I actually will be using it in dark mode myself (easy on the eyes).
  • The search at the top of all the tables searches all columns, allows partial word matches / differently ordered words, phrases in quotes for exact searches, and the ability to exclude search terms by putting a minus in front of any word. It will also clean up ISBNs that have dashes in them for you so that you can find books when you’ve copied the ISBN from somewhere else that has all the dashes in them.
  • All pages will now allow you to add/remove columns (see below), rearrange them, and it will save whatever you’ve done in your browser’s local storage. If there’s a particular layout you like better than my defaults, you can now do it yourself. Any bit of data you can see in the expand sidebar will generally be available to add as a column (even covers now).
  • Fun new colored tag style for publishers (each publisher has its own color) and similarly designed affiliate links.
  • The magnifying glass in the table will bring up the expandable side panel with more information. It’s similar to the old popup but allows you to still see the rest of the page while you are in it and there are also up/down arrows for you to cycle through books if you want right from the side panel itself.
  • The expandable side panel will also now include book update information on the given book. If the release date, page count, FOC, etc have changed, the log will show a nice history of that information.
  • Brand new mobile specific stacked card layout. When browsing from a phone, the site will transform the table into a card view that is significantly more mobile friendly. You’ll be able to see the same data but stacked vertically now. You can still perform the same actions as desktop users like adding/removing columns but a few things won’t be available (like expanding the page to fit the screen since it already does, rearranging columns, and other things that don’t really jive browsing from a phone).

  • Table Options
    • Gallery View – The main tables (upcoming, archive, publisher, etc) all have a new gallery view if you want to browse through a very tasteful cover view with a bit of info.
    • Full Window Width – Generally when viewing the site on a desktop, you can make it expand to fill your entire window instead of being fixed width. For when you want to look at lots of extra columns at once.
    • Compact Spacing / Comfortable Spacing – Shrink down the padding or add more padding depending on your preference.
    • Group By Solicited – All Books will be put into groups based on the month they were solicited for (2026-11 being the stuff that was just added this week for the November 2026 Solicitations). The latest solicitation month will be at the top then inside the group, they will be sorted by publisher then title. This view I envisioned as a way to look at what’s been solicited and add those books to your watchlist. You could combine this even with adding the “Cover” column.
    • Reset Filters – Reset all filters on the table (dates, publishers, formats, etc)
    • Watchlist Buttons – Show the buttons to add/remove books from your watchlist.
    • Format Legend – A box that tells you what all the format names actually mean (like what is an OHC or a Digest size book?).
    • Columns – One area you can add/remove columns in the table.
    • Reset to Defaults – If you change a bunch of stuff and get into trouble, hit this option and it will go back to where it started.
  • Gear Icon / Columns Menu
You can add and remove columns from here very quickly. The menu will stay open until you click away to allow you to add/remove multiple things at once.

  • Filters
    • Dates – Quick selects/shortcuts for date ranges. Click these to sort the table into those ranges.
    • Shortcuts – Quick selects/shortcuts for groups of book formats. They will highlight the format buttons below when you hit the More Filters button to show Publisher and Format filters.
    • Publisher – Click any of these to filter from a list of every publisher in the current table.
    • Format – Click any of these to filter from a list of every available format in the current table. If you use a shortcut first, you can then add/remove filters from that point as well.
  • New Dashboard page! See all kinds of information about the books on your watchlist.
    • Recent Update Activity – Will show you recent updates to books on your watchlist (like release date updates, page count updates, etc). Also filterable so you can see only what you want specifically.
    • Upcoming FOC – See which FOC dates are coming up on books you have on your watchlist in the next 60 days. If you’re planning to pre-order books (especially Marvel DMs that run out in 3 seconds), you’ll want to pay attention to these.
    • Various stats about the books on your watchlist (largest page count, most expensive, how many are in want status, pre-order status, bought status, etc).
  • All the fields are now editable in-line on the page. You can click into a cell in the table AND you can click into those same fields in the expandable side panel when you click that little magnifying glass to see more info.
  • There is a new “Edit Fields” button that will expand out to show all the watchlist fields so you can edit them in the list (a red arrow button will appear to help you scroll to the side to see more). Additionally you can also hit the full window width button to have it fill your screen in desktop mode.
  • Fun new colored tag style for watchlist statuses (each status has its own color)
  • Hit the hamburger menu at the top to see the “Watchlist Buttons” option which will show the add/remove buttons so you can mass add/remove books from your watchlist in the watchlist itself as well as the other tables.
